Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL) is a more expensive and sophisticated form of fixed-line broadband provision for internet access, and generally used only by businesses. It is called Symmetric because Upload speed (to the internet) is the same as the Download speed (from the internet). It is therefore good for applications like VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) where the server on a VPN link may need to upload quite a lot of data. See also ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line).
