Very High Speed Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) is a higher speed form of broadband access and is increasingly available in the UK.  It uses a Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) line with conventional copper wire from the cabinet (the roadside box) to the premises.  Sold by BT as Infinity, it offers download speeds of up to 40Mbps. 

A VDSL service requires a suitable broadband router or modem - devices designed for ADSL or DSL (cable) services are incompatible.
